Gigabyte GTX 970 4GB gaming FPS

Hey guys, I have a pretty specific problem, I've got a Gigabyte GTX 970 4GB and since I've had the card, I've had low frame rates in some games, but I always put it down to running a wide screen set up. I run 2 monitors most of the time, one standard 1080 and one widescreen 2560x1080 monitor. For a specific instance, right now I'm running a twitch stream on the second monitor and WoW fullscreen windows mode on High settings with some settings entirely turned off. In many instances, I get below 20 frames per second, alot of the time I get low enough frames in cities and zones for it to bother me. I always put it down to widescreen/multi monitor but after reading a lot of threads after the 3.5gb debacle and people saying this card should absolutely handle these sorts of res's at 60 or close to. The problem does persist even when just gaming with nothing on the second monitor. System: i5=4670k 12GB DDR 3 @ 1800 Samsung 830 256 GB SSD. Thanks in advance.

[Build Help] First Gaming PC Build

Been a reddit lurker for years, but I finally made an account to ask for suggestions on my gaming PC. My budget was originally $900, but things went a little over. Any ways to cut costs would be appreciated. I'll be using the computer to play games like L4D2, TF2, League of Legends, Guild Wars 2, and probably others in my Steam library. I'll also use it to watch videos and streams, and possibly do some streaming myself. The streaming isn't that big of a priority though. Hope I didn't mess up somewhere! Here's the build, but nothing is final: [PCPartPicker part list](http://pcpartpicker.com/p/C7Vq99) / [Price breakdown by merchant](http://pcpartpicker.com/p/C7Vq99/by_merchant/) Type|Item|Price :----|:----|:---- **CPU** | [Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor](http://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80646i54460) | $179.99 @ Newegg **Motherboard** | [ASRock B85 Anniversary ATX LGA1150 Motherboard](http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-b85anniversary) | $67.98 @ Newegg **Memory** | [Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory](http://pcpartpicker.com/part/crucial-memory-bls2kit4g3d1609ds1s00) | $64.98 @ Newegg **Storage** | [Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive](http://pcpartpicker.com/part/western-digital-internal-hard-drive-wd10ezex) | $54.99 @ Amazon **Video Card** | [XFX Radeon R9 280X 3GB Double Dissipation Video Card](http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-video-card-r9280xtdfd) | $229.99 @ Newegg **Case** | [Rosewill BLACKHAWK-BLUE ATX Mid Tower Case](http://pcpartpicker.com/part/rosewill-case-blackhawkblue) | $53.00 @ Newegg **Power Supply** | [Antec High Current Gamer 620W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply](http://pcpartpicker.com/part/antec-power-supply-hcg620m) | $59.99 @ NCIX US **Optical Drive** | [Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer](http://pcpartpicker.com/part/samsung-optical-drive-sh224dbbebe) | $13.99 @ Newegg **Operating System** | [Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)](http://pcpartpicker.com/part/microsoft-os-fqc04649) | Purchased For $0.00 **Monitor** | [Asus VX229H 60Hz 21.5" Monitor](http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-monitor-vx229h) | $148.99 @ SuperBiiz **Keyboard** | [Logitech MK120 Wired Slim Keyboard w/Optical Mouse](http://pcpartpicker.com/part/logitech-keyboard-920002565) | $14.99 @ Amazon **Speakers** | [Logitech Z313 25W 2.1ch Speakers](http://pcpartpicker.com/part/logitech-speakers-980000382) | $34.99 @ Amazon | | **Total** | Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available | $923.88 | Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-02-01 23:26 EST-0500 |

$1000 YouTube Recording/Editing Build

>**What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.** * I would like to record any games on as high as settings as possible at a minimum of 30fps. I'd also be video editing for YouTube, and, of course, browsing reddit (I know, this last one will probably be what takes the most power). >**What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?** * I'd like it to be around 1000 USD. >**When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.** * Sometime early this week. >**What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (Tower/OS/monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc)** * Tower only. >**Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?** * Indiana, US, and no, Microcenter is too far away for me to plan a trip at this time. >**If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.** * My monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 2220wm. I have a few different generic keyboard and mouse combos laying around. >**Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?** * I am not interested at this time. However, if the budget allows the option to be there for the future, I wouldn't mind. >**Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)** * Nothing specific, no. >**Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-tower/full-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?** * I'd like the case to have plenty of room for graphics cards, preferably without removing drive cages to support longer cards. >**Do you need a copy of Windows 7 or 8.1 included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference for one or the other?** * I have a copy of Windows 7 64 bit, no need to include it.

I have put together a PC with parts I mostly got for free from friends. But I want to put a decent GPU in it. I got a Gigabyte 970A-UD3P, a Samsung 830 series 256GB SSD, and a power supply for free. The RAM I got was messed up and the power supply died. (they were old) I think I'm just gonna grab 8GB of Corsair Vengeance ram and then probably a Corsair CM600M PSU (Not the best, I know, but I'm trying to keep it cheap) My buddy is letting me borrow an old GTX 560Ti for now just to get the PC running. My main PC is an MSi GT70 2PC Dominator and has plenty of power for anything I'm currently doing. The CPU I have in there right now is an AMD FX-6350 because it was decent value and my board I got for free was already nice but an AM3+ socket. I'll save the money where I can. The motherboard was like $80, so I went with it. So where I'm stuck is the GPU. I first thought I'd go with a GTX 970. Then I was like, why don't I try an all AMD build because I'm typically an Intel/Nvidia guy. But I don't really know that the cards in the range I want will be worth going with AMD. So most GTX 970s are shooting around $320-$350USD while R9 290X cards vary from $320-$370USD or so. Seeing as I'm using an FX-6350, which card would suit this build the best? I'm asking because I'm not familiar enough with AMD processors to be able to judge what would work best. I don't want to bottleneck the GPU I end up with too bad or anything. Any guidance is appreciated. Any particular recs? I'm partial to the Strix models Asus have at the moment for 970s. No preference on AMD stuff yet. TL;DR: I have an FX-6350. Do I get an R9 290X or a GTX 970... Which particular model would work well?

Ram I'm not too worried about since I've been eyeballing the Mushkin Blackline but the card is whats giving me hell. I am torn between an XFX 280x or going for a GTX 970/980. My price limit on a card is 400$ (don't want to go higher but I can if need be or if a good deal pops op) I mostly just play generic games (Call of duty ever so often. GTA 5 when it comes out, WoW, Bioshock etc.)

Video card causing system instability, could it be because of the motherboard?

**Stats:** MSI Gaming Z87-G45 i7 4770K with CM Hyper 212 Team Vulcan 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (9-9-9-24), XMP profile enabled Samsung Pro 850 250GB SeaSonic SS-750KM3 750W Antec Three Hundred with additional case fans Gigabyte R9 290 SIIG FireWire 2-Port PCIe (NN-E20012-S2) M-Audio Firewire 410 Audio interface 1440P Crossover 2720MDP Gold Windows 7 ------------------------------------------------------------- **Problem description:** I have had numerous problems with system stability and usability. Random BSOD and subsequent restarts. Graphical artifacts and glitching while watching Youtube. Playing graphically intense games would cause a BSOD or for the display adapter driver to fail and restore itself, locking up the system for a few seconds. Also only sometimes the top 1px of the screen and bottom of the screen would have an artifact, completely arbitrary from what I could tell. Sometimes it would run fine for a few weeks and other times it would get so bad that the computer would restart immediately after logging into Windows. Playing a really demanding game like Dragon Age Inquisition seemed to always knock the stability out in a matter of minutes and could cause problems for multiple restarts after the fact. Meanwhile games like Starcraft II could be played for weeks without any issues but would still face the occasional driver lock up from time to time. Eventually I pulled out the Gigabyte R9 290 and sent it for a RMA. Gigabyte looked at it, cleaned it, said nothing was wrong using multiple configurations and sent it back to me. In the interm I put in a MSI Windforce 660 which is mostly stable but still gets the occasional graphical artifact when browsing Youtube. Sometimes the video goes completely black or will stutter the same frames for a few seconds over and over again until I refresh the page. No real restarts or blue screens to speak of just the occasional problem with flash videos. Upon getting my R9 290 back I removed the NVIDIA drivers and put the 290 back in but my system was extremely unstable. Couldn't get it to run more then a few minutes without experiencing artifacts and a restart. I removed the AMD drivers and put the 660 back in but this configuration was now experiencing constant reboots. I had to do a system restore to the day before putting the R9 290 back in to make my system mostly stable again, back to just the rare Youtube glitch. I have tried formatting on multiple occasions and the same problems persist. I also replaced my old SSD (OCZ Vertex 4) since it failed SMART tests. I've used a different power supply. I have tried different memory configurations including 1 stick at a time and different sticks all together. I have also reseated the CPU and tried the video cards in various PCI-express slots. At this point the only core component that hasn't been changed is the CPU/motherboard and I haven't removed my Firewire card or sound card. I'm also not overclocking at all at the moment due to aforementioned issues. At this point I'm pretty fed up and have gotten to the point that I'm just going to blame the motherboard and RMA it. Does this sound reasonable? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for reading my wall of text. Tl:dr - R9 290 and 660 work fine in other computers but experience problems in this one, especially the 290. Can a motherboard cause video card instability?

[Build Ready] $2000 Photoshop/Lightroom and Gaming PC. Black/White theme. How did I do?

Hey guys. Just about to pull the trigger on this 1440p Photoshop and gaming PC and wondering what everyone thinks. It's a white/black color scheme. I guess my main concern is the RAM. Are there any cheaper options that will serve my purpose of photoshop/gaming just as good as the ones I have listed that also fit within my color scheme? Other then that, anything else you would change? I really wanted the LG 34UM95 but I just can't seem to fit it in with my budget. Small PC build for League Of Legends

Honestly this is over kill for league of legends. You could definitely get some cheaper parts and dumb down the graphics card a lot and get one for maybe around $100 or maybe even less that will run league no problem. This is just a cheap build that has EVERYTHING you need included and could do some other light gaming and this graphics card that's in it could actually run some current games a decent settings. Permalink:http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Circas/saved/M3cmP6 CPU AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core $135.00 CPU Cooler Cooler Master Hyper TX3 54.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing $17.99 Motherboard Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 Micro ATX AM3+ $44.95 Memory Crucial Ballistix Sport 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 $36.44 Storage Western Digital Caviar Blue 320GB 3.5" 7200RPM $25.49 Video Card MSI Radeon R9 270 2GB TWIN FROZR $139.99 Case Cooler Master N200 MicroATX Mid Tower $39.99 Power Supply EVGA 430W ATX12V / EPS12V $19.99 Optical Drive Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer $13.98 Monitor LG 22M35D 22.0" $87.99 Wireless Network Adapter TP-Link TL-WN881ND 802.11b/g/n PCI-Express x1 $18.78 Keyboard Cooler Master CM Storm Devastator Gaming Bundle w/Optical Mouse $27.99 Total Total: $608.58 Now seriously remember this is really rough and just trying to show people here a basic cheap gaming computer that will handle itself very well with league and decently across everything else. Keep in mind you could knock another $100 off if you do not need wifi, monitor, or peripherals. Then maybe another $100 for a cheaper processor and mother board bundle. There is a lot you can do with PCs!

Free Games?

I know that you can download free games and stuff but does aomeone have a safe and easy way to do it or have a video on how to do it that actually works? I have a Samsung Galaxy Note Edge if that helps.

Can I access my phone's message files?

Hey guys, I am trying to delete an extremely long group chat on my Samsung Galaxy S4 (I turned off auto text deletion for a while) but whenever I try my phone freezes up. Is there a way I can access my phone's files on my computer and just delete the messages from there? I am currently searching but not getting anything. Thanks!

Choosing New Box Mod

First and foremost this is my first post. I am needing some ideas on a new box mod. I currently have a Cloupor 30w box and has been working just fine for the year I've had it. I've come to realize that I want more battery life. I use the Samsung 25R batteries, however this device is only capable of handling a single 18650. I've been looking at the Sigelei and Pioneer4You products, but have seen numerous cons from redditors and videos. I honestly do not care about the extreme wattage, as I only use the Kanger Subtank Mini (which is awesome, might I add). I've noticed the Cloupor T8 is another choice I have that is at a great price on FastTech. I don't want to break the bank, preferably under $100 and of course regulated. Thoughts? Opions? Thanks in advance!
